RNLI supporter raises money by

walking the ‘Cleveland Way’

Chris Keen, a supporter of the RNLI, decided to raise money for Whitby Lifeboat Station by walking the ‘Cleveland Way’, a distance of 110 miles, which took him  through the villages and towns of Helmsley, Osmotherly, Chop Gate, Great Ayton, Saltburn, Whitby, Revenscar, Scarborough and finished at Filey.

He met Mike Russell, RNLI Coxswain at Whitby Lifeboat Station, and presented him with a cheque for £630 which he had raised during his walk. Chris said that he had decided to raise money for Whitby Lifeboat Station as, ‘a personal tribute to all the people who are connected to this fantastic organisation and the wonderful people whom I met on route.’

Mike accepted the cheque on behalf of Whitby Lifeboat Station and remarked that he was always very humbled to know that there were many people like Chris who made the effort to raise money for the RNLI, He said that Chris and all the RNLI fundraisers, ‘ enable us to do our work in saving people in distress at sea, and we are always very grateful for their help.’
